RIP Col. Jerry Coleman "The Colonel" 1924-2014

We are saddened to inform you that on January 5th, 2014, Colonel Jerry Coleman departed this life. A baseball player, manager, broadcaster, and decorated war hero (though he'd never let you call him that), Jerry Coleman leaves this world better than he found it. We are honored to have worked with you! Rest in Piece Colonel! May your memory be eternal!

Who? Jerry Coleman "The Colonel" is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) second baseman for the New York Yankees and manager of the San Diego Padres for one year. Currently, he is a color analyst and former play-by-play radio announcer for the San Diego Padres. Coleman was named the rookie of the year in 1949 by Associated Press, and was an All-Star in 1950 and later that year was named the World Series most valuable player. His Yankees teams appeared in six World Series in his career, winning four times. Coleman served in the Korean War and World War II and retired with the rank of Leuitenant Colonel in the U.S. Marine Coprs. He later became a broadcaster, and was honored in 2005 by the National Baseball Hall of Fame with the Ford C. Frick Award for his broadcasting contributions.
